TeeWeed - Seaweed Golf Tees 70mm
TeeWeed Tees are made 100% from seaweed and plant extracts, solely from renewable sources, breaking down like a fruit peel. They will break down naturally on a golf course or can go in food waste, home compost and industrial compost. There are no micro plastics or anything left behind. Technically you could eat them… but we don’t manufacture in ‘food safe environments’ so don’t!
- 100% Seaweed

How are the golf tees made?
The golf tees are manufactured using standard injection moulding machines/ equipment, the same that are used to produce plastic golf tees, allowing us to scale production efficiently. However, this material isn’t a plastic or bioplastic (under the UK/ EU definition), as it’s made from natural polymers which haven’t been chemically modified.
Why is it a sustainable option? Seaweed grows much faster than trees and requires less resources to grow. Certain species of seaweed can grow up to half a metre per day. In addition, we manufacture our golf tees in Europe, so the transport emissions are lower, whereas most plastic tees are manufactured in the Far East and imported to the UK/ Europe.
We don’t add any synthetic coatings or chemicals to the tees and seaweed is an organic fertiliser that is already used on certain golf courses, so TeeWeed golf tees have a net positive effect on soil health.
Why do the golf tees have a smell?
During the manufacturing process, the natural extracts are heated, which give the golf tees a unique smell. This is a completely natural process… some love it, some hate it!
Why do the golf tees become more flexible over time?
Given the tees are made from a completely natural material, they will absorb moisture from the air over time and start to become more flexible. This process varies based on the conditions (e.g. relative humidity), but it’s something we can control through storage and the material formulation we use. We’ve developed a formulation which is suitable for golf tees (some flexibility is good, given brittle tees will break more easily). We recommend storing the golf tees in some form of sealed packaging until as close to the point of use as possible.
